WPConsent 1.0.11 – Introducing Clarity Consent Mode + Location Based Banner Customization + More

Ever wonder what happens to your Microsoft Clarity data when their new Consent Mode enforcement kicks in this October?

You’ll probably lose valuable user insights and potentially face compliance headaches.

Clarity is a popular free tool for understanding user behavior on your site. However, most of its features like heatmaps and funnel tracking rely on cookies to function properly. Without cookies, you might have to give up on important information about your visitors.

So, to overcome this issue, I am thrilled to introduce all NEW WPConsent’s Clarity Consent Mode!

Now, you can easily use Clarity without cookies until a user gives consent. WPConsent 1.0.11 automatically enables this for users running Clarity on their WordPress website.

With that, let’s look at the details.

New Microsoft Clarity Consent Mode

When it comes to understanding your users’ behavior on your website, Microsoft Clarity is a leading tool in the market. It helps you capture how people use your website, using heatmaps, session recordings, insights, Google Analytics, and more.

However, starting October 31st, 2025, Microsoft Clarity will begin implementing a Consent Mode for visitors from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland (CH). As a result, the Consent Mode only sets cookies once a user gives consent.

Since Clarity relies on cookies to connect page views into sessions, it means that without consent, Microsoft Clarity features like session recordings, heatmaps, and funnel tracking may be impacted.

And with no data being collected during these sessions, you will not be able to track visitors without a valid cookie consent.

So to help you out, WPConsent’s new Clarity Consent Mode feature is here!

It works out of the box and allows you to use Microsoft Clarity without cookies until a user gives consent. This way, you’ll still get important insights about your visitors and also stay compliant.

Enable clarity consent mode

While the Clarity Consent Mode is enabled by default for anyone using WPConsent with Clarity, you can still find the option under WPConsent Advanced Settings in your WordPress dashboard.

Edit Banner Button and Message Based on Location

Another cool feature you’ll find in WPConsent 1.0.11 is that you can customize the banner buttons and messages based on user’s location.

This makes the geolocation feature even more powerful, as you can show custom messages and buttons to visitors from different regions.

For example, if you’ve set up a GDPR Geolocation template in WPConsent, then you can change the button texts and order, and replace the default message with a personalized note for visitors from Europe in the cookie consent banner.

To view these new options, simply edit the Location-based template in WPConsent. From here, you can scroll down and enable the Customize Banner Buttons option.

Customize banner buttons

Here, you can change the button text, enable or disable buttons you want, and change their order.

Similarly, if you enable the Customize Banner Message option, then you’ll see a text area under ‘Banner Message.’ Here, you can enter the content that you’d like to display in the cookie consent banner for visitors from a particular location.

Besides that, WPConsent 1.0.11 also introduces new improvements and compatibilities.

In the latest version, you’ll find an improved compatibility with Google Tag Manager for our Google Consent Mode implementation. Plus, if you’re using the Bricks visual builder, then WPConsent won’t load inside the editor.

That said, Clarity Consent Mode, location based banner buttons and text, and other improvements are now live for both WPConsent Pro and Lite users.

So what are you waiting for? Upgrade to WPConsent 1.0.11 today and ensure your Microsoft Clarity implementation stays compliant and functional.
